Sister called to report that she had manned (not quite the right word) "sistered" the California Guitar Trio's merchandising table last night in Mill Valley. Patricia took charge of their merchandising lives and increased their average take substantially. She has also booked her hotel in Nashville for Thanksgiving so the Fripp Kids can holiday appropriately: Sister is not coming to England this Christmas / New Year so this will be our joint celebration.
19.14 The Team are leaving. The beginning day for a Crimson of (kinda) new formation. Equipment is mostly working. We ran through 3 "pieces": 2 of them working ideas and 1 from nowhere. The new line of thinking is a Crimson take on the blues which came from a Belewbeloid riff. For anyone who has doubts of Pat's capacity to Crimsonise (and doubters appear to be falling away) the part Pat played on the "blues" completely threw me. I've no idea where he was, other than he was there. And this from someone who worked with Giles for 3 years and Billy B. for 27 years (so far). As Pat was leaving I asked him: "What were you playing?". "Well everyone was centred on the guitar playing there's no need for me to play it too, is there?". The answer: "Hey! This is Crimson!".
Also today: an interview with an English newspaper who have received a story from a freelance writer on where Toyah and I now live. Unless I give an interview, they'll run the story as is. Beaton Bunnerius Bun is currently in lodgings with his in-laws in Worcestershire or we'd have sent him to do the interview instead. Toyah is back from one day's filming in Ireland and off to Israel tomorrow for the BBC Holiday programme.
Response To The Guestbook:
Russian CDs: all bootlegs. Artists will receive El Zilcho royalties from these. The E-bay merchandise is highly suspect, in my view.
Steve Vai told me a story on the G3 tour, 2 years ago (I'd given Steve a DGM manifesto and we were talking record company stories). An American Warner Bros. Representative was sent to Russia to organise sales; i.e. make them legit. He was shot dead.
